Love at Laurel: Lexi + Alex's Marriage Proposal

Find the couple

Once again, the mountains prove their magic.

Alex brought Lexi to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a weekend of camping and relaxation.

Relaxation?  He made the poor girl get up bright and early for a hike to nearby Laurel Falls.  As early as humanely possible.  Because Alex was a man with a mission.

Laurel Falls is a beautiful place.  The good news is that it is one of the more accessible waterfalls in the park.  The bad news is that it is one of the most accessible waterfalls in the park.  Which means on a summer's day, one can expect more people at the falls than one would want present at one's marriage proposal.  So timing was key.

No matter.  I made sure I was up before the sun and at the trail head to start my hike at 7:00 am, to be sure I was at the spot, got my camera settings ready, and assumed the persona of Just Another Nature Photographer (key detail: have a camera on a tripod pointed at the natural feature o' distinction).

And shortly thereafter, I spotted a handsome couple approaching.

Let's have the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Per Alex, at this point he was trembling.

Alex wasted no time.

Of course, a quick photo shoot thus ensued . . .

Beautiful mountains + Beautiful Couple = Beauty

And you need some ring shots.  Nice job on selection, Alex!

So you never know where a hike will take you.  Maybe up a mountain as a girlfriend, and back down the trail as a fiancee.

Congratulations to Lexi and Alex!  May they come back to visit "their waterfall" many times in the future, hopefully accompanied by their children and grandchildren.
