In the Heat of Winter: Megan and Garrett's Proposal

Wait, what?

In the heat of winter?!

Indeed. Garrett had been planning this proposal for some time now with me and as the day approahced, we watched with trepidation as, at first, heavy rains were forecast to spoil the day.

But they didn’t.

Instead, at this tail end of December 2019 - the 29th, for Pete’s sake - the rain held off, the sun gave off a glowing diffused light, and the temperatures was . . . 77 degrees.

In short, he could not have had a better day to bring Megan to the banks of the Little River behind Spence Cabin and ask for her hand in marriage.

And here is what happened. Let’s start, as most proposals do, with an unsuspecting bride-to-be. After taking a picture on Garrett’s phone, I offered to take one on my “good camera” to set them up.

Of course, we had a photo shoot after the proposal. And why not? Even in winter, places like the Troll Bridge and the Elkmont cabins are still beautiful.

Check out the absolutely gorgeous ring Garrett gave Megan!

And . . . a lagniappe. I was fortunate enough that their proposal was witnessed by a family who was visiting from Louisiana - a debt of gratitude is owed to Megan Clayton, who caught the proposal on her phone. I took that, plus some video of my own that I shot, to make a short, two-minute movie for Megan and Garrett to remember this day by - watch and enjoy!

Mazel tov, you crazy kids!
