Dani and Kayne: a Fargo engagement shoot

One of my brides-to-be, Danielle, will be marrying this June.  She finished her Master's degree last Spring at Chaminade University inj Honolulu, Hawaii and found work . . . in Fargo, North Dakota.  Yes, that Fargo.  The mythical town made popular by the movie and television series of the same name.

She had hoped that she and her fiance, Kayne, could make it back to Knoxville for her engagement pictures.  When that plan fell through, she contacted me and asked if I would come to Fargo.

Would I?  Aw, geez, heck yeah!  Come on, I had never been to Fargo and am always up for an adventure.  So on a plane I flew . . . right into a polar vortex.

A wind chill factor that brought temperatures to below zero, as well as a wind that seemed to come from all directions, made any outdoor sessions that would last longer than 10 minutes pretty much impossible.  Plus with Dani just recently transplanted in Fargo, her fiance currently living in New York, and me completely unfamiliar with the area, what could be done?

Thank goodness for resources such as the r/fargo subreddit on Reddit.com.  I put up a post and received a number of suggestions for places to shoot.  I also went online and contacted several places that said, "Come on in!"  I researched coffee shops, museums, even toyed with the idea of having the couple bowl a few frames at a bowling alley (a popular past time growing up during cold New York winters).  I did what I needed to do - my homework.

Who needs a temperate climate when they've got their love to keep them warm?

I even got to see THE wood chipper from the movie, autographed by the Cohen brothers!

And the adventure is not over!  The couple will be marrying in June 2015 in the groom's hometown of Aragon, New Mexico, population 75.  I am already dreaming of a image with the night sky filled with stars and the couple in the vast desert beneath.

We can do this!
