Blackberry Winter Proposal: Daniela and Jose

I always enjoy when folks from Florida come to our mountains, since the highest point in that state is just over 300’.  They are always astounded by the view in East Tennessee.  So, it did not surprise me that Jose wanted his beloved Daniela to have a mountain backdrop to his marriage proposal to her.

I give these guys credit – they flew in and landed in Nashville, then navigated the plateau of Middle Tennessee to arrive finally on the roller coaster roads of East Tennessee.  Even more, they were on their way to glamping at Under Canvas in the Great Smoky Mountains.  And doing this in the midst of what we locals call a Locust Winter – or was it a Blackberry Winter?  The name is not relevant – the point is that visitors are often surprised to arrive in mid-May and discover . . . it’s cold!  Well, it can be or it can be over 90 degrees, you just never know!  The good news is that Jose knew there would be firewood to greet them at their campsite, as well as a welcome treat for the couple.

But before they got there, he wanted to show Daniela the mountains and a convenient spot for a quick glimpse of what they could expect on their visit can be found along the Foothills Parkway.  The Foothills Parkway allows one a “step back” from the mountains in order to SEE the mountains.  Stretching from Wears Valley to the Chilhowee Dam, it is a great drive.

Jose and Daniela made their way to Look Rock and there he first had some words for her, to tell her how much she meant to his life and how much he loved her.  But is that really enough?  Come on now, it is not official until you get on bended knee and ask THE question!  And this is how it happened:

I want to note also that Jose appreciates the visual art and is an accomplished video producer – catch his work here.
