Alex and Ryder's Engagement at the Hiwassee River

Alex had requested we do the engagement session for her and Ryder “in the mountains.” Two Chattanooga dwellers, they wanted something more country for this.

To tie in with their upcoming nuptials at Hiwassee River Weddings and Events in November, I suggested we keep that theme going further up river, in the bump-on-the-road town of Reliance, Tennessee. Now, I like Reliance for its variety of settings: mountains, river, old buildings, singing bridges, and cool creeks. It was busy by Webb’s, the old Texaco station - it also houses a rafting company and on this summer morning, business was booming. No matter, the old meeting house just up the road would provide a good backdrop, then on to the troll bridge in the forest, followed by the swinging bridge at the pump house, and then a cool off at Towee Creek.

Don’t know where all that is? Here, jump in your car and follow me - I got place to show you!

By the way, if you think Alex looks all sweetness and cream, think again. Seems she has a touch of mischief in her. When we got to the suspension bridge over the Hiwassee River, Ryder admitted he has a fear of bridges. I can sympathize and I gave time for him to ease his way out for pictures. And he did so well. And then Alex asked if we were finished there and when I said yes . . .

Yes, that got the bridge shaking, much to Ryder’s dismay.

They are going to be a lot of fun in November, I just know it. That is a wedding I am looking forward to photographing!
