Seeing Double: Twins’ Portraits

One of the things that attracts me the most about photography is the variation in looks and styling that can be achieved.  There is a myriad of ways that a choice of lenses, lighting, and post-processing can be selected to create a specific look and feel.

There is something special about twins that intrigue people, seeing two souls that started life as one.  For that reason, when I set out to photograph Arlo and Felix, I wanted to create portraits that have the feel of old portraiture, such as a painting that may have hung in a country manor and gathered a patina over the years.  They were such serious little men, which is fine – I believe that when a children is told to smile, the result is not genuine.  Let them be serious, let them be silly, because what matters most is that their personality is seen, whatever it may be at this stage in their lives.
