A Blending of Traditions: Myia and Paul's Wedding at Hiwassee River Weddings

There is an old saying that holds “love is sweeter the second time around.” I am always happy to see what I will call more mature couples finding each other and falling in love. Love doesn’t discriminate and there is no reason why a great celebration cannot be had.

And so proven by Myia and Paul. The setting was the fabulous Hiwassee River Weddings in Delano, Tennessee, a venue that brings you right to the water’s edge. Both Myia and Paul had adult children and their respective daughters spoke in their toasts about how happy they were to know that their parent had met a decent and loving partner.

Myia and Paul did have a First Look before their ceremony, right after Myia had her father see her in her wedding dress for the first time.

You’re never too old to make your Daddy cry!

We love First Looks!

Hiwassee River Weddings has some beautiful woods!

And then the ceremony! Myia strode like a queen down to the river’s edge and at the end of the service, she and Paul followed the African-American tradition of jumping the broom, a practice found during the days of antebellum slavery in the US but which ahs become a celebration of culture.

Jumping the broom!

Not that Paul’s Mexican heritage was left unrecognized. At the end of the evening, he and Myia did a .waltz to beautiful mariachi music that was incredibly romantic and soulful.

It was a day of family. It was a day of celebration. But most of all, it was a day of love - made all the sweeter by Myia and Paul.

The end of a beautiful day . . .
