Chris: A Hard Day's Light
Working with model Chris Stanley and hard light in the midday sun was a joy to do. Here are some images from our session on a hot and sunny day.
Twins Are Coming
Twins are coming and Mom is ready to burst! But not before a maternity session to mark what is her last pregnancy with Babies Four and Five!
In Studio Engagement Session
There are advantages to having an engagement session in studio versus outdoors, and gives a look that some have described as more “painterly.” Check out Courtney and Brandon’s session!
Winning at Losing: Elizabeth's Pinup Session
We don’t need celebrities when everyday people are inspiring. And Elizabeth is one of those people whose true grit resulted in a significant change in her life. I think her story - with pictures, naturally - needs to be shared to inspire others! She’s a real loser - #winning!
Derby Girls
Spring is coming and it will bring flowers, and signing birds, and MAYHEM ON THE FLAT TRACK! ROLLER DERBY STARTS APRIL 4TH! HELL TO THE YEAH!
Oh, and I did the headshots for Chattanooga Roller Derby. Take a look at these lovely, refined women . . .
Negan Cosplay
My friend, Don, puts a lot of effort into his cosplay of the character Negen from “The Walking Dead.” That much work demands professional images from a radical photoshoot to capture his alter ego. He and I, along with his helpful girlfriend, met up in the desert town of Amboy, California, for some outrageous fun and shooting. Check this out, this shit is real.
Shooting With the Big Guy
If you missed Pictures With Santa at the historic Southern Railway Station, you still have another chance to bring your kids, your pets, and YOU next Sunday, December 8th! Santa will be in the house from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Come make a holiday tradition in a relaxed setting, and consider enjoying a meal and drink at the station while you’re here. See you Sunday!
Gone Fishing: A Groom's Portrait
Here a groom’s portrait is done as an environmental portrait, which offers a chance to show more of a person’s personality as well as a setting that speaks more to whom they are. Wesley’s love of fishing and its connection to the wedding venue is highlighted here - check it out!
Andrea: Ghost Town Shoot
It is refreshing to leave behind the familiar landscape of East Tennessee and play with the Nevada desert. A recent visit to Vegas allowed me some time with a young lady at a ghost town, under a hot sun.
Emily: Chance Meeting in the Valley of Fire
A visit to the Valley of Fire State Park in southern Nevada and a chance encounter with a beautiful skateboarder led to an impromptu session in the desert - and a quick one, too, with temperatures in excess of 105 degrees!
In Studio: Andy
NSFW: implied/partial nudity. Andy came in studio a while back and her beauty and shining personality came through in a series of images. The human figure is a wonderous creation and as photographers, we should strive to do it justice!
A Guy, a Gal, and Folly Beach at Sunset . . .
A quick trip to South Carolina for a workshop and I just had to photograph down by the beach while I was that close to it! Lucky me, the ever gracious Dale and Kaitlin obliged as models. We had a good time down at Folly Beach , near Charleston - sure, you get wet and there is sand all over the floor of my car, but creating art like this is worth it!
Childhood and Summer: Bailey
A new location for portrait work, a summer’s afternoon, and a sassy young lady - the ingredients for a perfect informal portrait session! These months of warmth and sunshine won’t be here forever- and neither will their childhood! Capture it now!
Team Isabel & Peggy Sue
They say to never work with kids and animals but I disagree - a children’s portrait session is all the more fun when you have both! A beautiful young lady, a patient horse, and bringing the studio to the client means great images come to life. Read more about young Isabel and her trusty side-kick, Peggy Sue. Is there a rider in your life?
Let's Go to the Prom
High school is a time for making memories and nothing is more memorable than the prom. Last night I photographed two young people for L&N STEM Academy’s prom at the Southern Railway Station in Knoxville. I was not even half as cool as these kids at that age!
Retelling the Myth of Prometheus
Marisa Mitchell, aka Mars, is a kickass artisan, working in metal, concrete, and glass. I visited her in her metal workshop to do an environmental portrait of this woman handling fire, thus retelling the myth of Prometheus - spolier alert: this time the gods are beaten.
People of Note: Magnolia Matrimonies
Another entry for People of Note, to introduce you to a business whenever I do a head shot. Earlier this year I photographed the crew from Magnolia Matrimonies, wedding officiants helping to spread the love in Knoxville. Colleen, its owner, and Nikki and Evan are bringing joy to all couples in our fair city!
